Insulin resistance is a major factor in type 2 diabetes, a growing epidemic in the United States affecting 29 million US adults.

“Although our study can not establish causality, our results suggest that a high intake of sugary drinks increases the chances of developing warning signs of type 2 diabetes. are not done, people with prediabetes are on the developmental trajectory of diabetes, “said Nicola McKeown, Ph.D.

The study did not find a similar correlation between diet soda and the increase in insulin resistance and prediabetes level.
